Swim lessons are the LAST line of defense to keep your child safe by the water

- Katie Metzger

Water Safety Tips

Drowning Prevention Tips

  • NEVER leave children alone near water.
  • ALWAYS have a responsible adult supervise, avoiding reliance on older children.
  • Prioritize safety over phone calls; NEVER leave the child unattended.
  • Designate one responsible person for supervision when both parents are present, rotating as needed.

Selecting a Swimming Program

  • Prioritize swim programs teaching essential water survival skills for children.
  • Verify instructor qualifications, ensuring current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Be cautious of programs solely emphasizing water acclimation without self-rescue skills.
  • Avoid swim lessons in water warmer than 88 degrees to prevent dehydration and maintain effective movement.
